My fishing log was designed for running on the iphone version 3.1.3 although will run with slightly less functionality on the ipod touch,

Description: My fishing Log (MFL) has been designed with the specimen hunter in mind.
It doesn't’t matter if your target species is Carp, Pike, Perch, Cod or even shark, if you want to record your catch and catch details then MFL is the iphone application for you.
There are four different screens to a venue
Venue List screen: <insert image>
This screen list your currently known venues, in alphabetical order for easy access. On the navigation bar there is a plus sign this allows the user to add a venue by presenting the venue detail screen. If you wish to delete a venue and all details about that venue including trips and catches simply swipe your finger across a venue and the red delete button will appear, press this button and the venue and details will be removed. Note: when deleting a venue it removes all trip and catches for that venue, so make sure you really wish to delete it.
If you do not want to save map details at this point simply press the save button on the navigation bar or cancel to reject changes
Venue Map screen:
This uses the Iphone GPS to locate the venue using goggle maps. This has to be done at the fishery though, but once set you can study the area around the fishery and uses the full mapping on the iphone, useful for directions to the venue never get lost you can zoom in and out, the mapping uses Hybrid satellite mapping so you see names of roads etc.
To save a map location you must press the save button on the map location screen and then press save button on the venue detail screen otherwise the location will not be saved to the phone.
Venue Lists <insert image>
The venue list is a list of all venues you have added to your iphone, it is in sorted alphabetic order to make it easier and quicker to find your venue, This list is obtain automatically from the venue details above.
Trip Identifier
The trip identifier allows you to specify the trip whether it be a night, weekend or a social sessions, you record your catches on a trip by trip basis.
The trip name can be anything you want for example May 2010 Social with forum friends or simply 10/10/2010. Trips are set against venues, i.e. one venue you could have many trip.
Additional trips can be added simply by pressing the the plus button at the top of the screen
If you swipe your finger across a trip the red delete button will be displayed allowing you to delete the trips details. If you delete the trip all catches on this trip will be removed. Not the camera or photo library picture
Catch List
This is a list of the catches on the particular trip quick and easy to find fish, and the times they were caught press the plus key to add a fish to your trip, swipe a catch report and it will delete all the details about this catch or touch the catch to display details about the catch, this will also allow you to edit the catch is you wish..

This is also a scrolling notes field where you can enter whatever you like for example what bait, where exactly you caught i.e. out towards big oak tree, totally open to how you want to record the detail. |

This allows you to use the camera on the iphone or camera roll. But if you are on an ipod Touch you can use the photo library, You can add the fish photo at anytime. I generally leave it and use my DLR to take self takes and add the photo later. |
There are a couple of screens at this point, If you are in display mode then you can view the details of the catch and scroll the note field, you can also press the photo button to see the picture of your catch, if you hadn't record a picture of your catch the photo key will be hidden. If the report is wrong then simply select the edit button at the top of the screen in the navigation window this which will allow you to change details, including taking/retaking a photo or selecting a photo from the photo libraries on your iphone. It will allow you to amend any details of the catch, pressing save will save the details otherwise if you don't wish to change your changes press cancel, this will return you to view mode.
Photo's are two phase save, firstly on the photo screen to accept the photo and then at the catch report. This way it tries to enforce you are doing exactly what you want to be doing.
Record Catches <insert image>
Another useful feature of MFL, Record catches, if like me you know your biggest fish is 44lb and from a certain lake, but what I like to know is what’s my biggest from the particular venue I am fishing, simply press the button and your will see your record catch per species from all the data held on your iphone.
Data entry allows you to fill in the data how you want, field by field, it will pre-attempts date and time of your catch for you but everything is user modifiable so you can simply adjust it. Screen scrolling data entry, scrolling notes, Its all there to make your entry as fast and easy as possible. All data stored is persistent and will get backed up in you itunes with the application. I intend to extend functionality in the future, just a case of deciding what else I or others need when using. There is a lot more to MFL and there will be more functionality added in the near future, the internal database is versioned so future updates will not effect your saved data, data is saved in your itunes area so will never be lost.
Some a=additional detail, when editing the notes field you can enter as much data as you like this is a scrolling field so pressing return will simply add a carriage return/nw line to the field to get out of editing mode simply touch anyway outside the data entry field this will hide the keyboard, when you come to editing the notes field touch the note field and the field will scroll and keyboard will be displayed, Other fields you can press the return key to remove the keyboard or simply touch any other field you wish to edit this will leave the keyboard displayed and allow you to enter data.
